Gareth Winslow

Gareth is an experienced trial lawyer with a broad practice that includes general, civil and commercial disputes; civil and criminal regulatory proceedings; fraud, money laundering, proceeds of crime and other criminal prosecutions and applications.

Areas of practice

Gareth has appeared in over 150 trials in the District Court and the High Court and has argued more than 80 appeals in the Court of Appeal.

Between 1992 and 2010, before joining the Bar, Gareth spent over a decade in commercial litigation, first at Simpson Grierson and later at Russell McVeagh, working on complex, large-scale cases in the High Court and Court of Appeal.

From 2003 to 2007, Gareth served as a Crown prosecutor for Meredith Connell and was seconded to Crown Law as Crown counsel. During this time, he frequently appeared in court, acting as sole or lead counsel in numerous judge-alone and jury trials, as well as handling appeals in the Court of Appeal. Since joining the Bar in 2010, he has continued to represent the Crown in the Court of Appeal.

Since transitioning to the Bar, Gareth has worked on significant commercial litigation matters, high-profile fraud and regulatory prosecutions, and has served as defense counsel in multiple criminal trials and appellate cases.
