Claudio Soldati

Claudio is a leading KC in commercial and regulatory litigation and arbitrations. He is one of United Kingdom’s leading KCs and is a trusted legal advisor to United Kingdom businesses, government entities, and public bodies.

Areas of practice

Claudio has appeared as lead counsel in all United Kingdom Courts and many tribunals.

He was formerly United Kingdom’s Solicitor General, and responsible for advice to all arms of government. Before that, he was a partner at law firms. He worked in London and Tokyo as a solicitor for Allen & Overy and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.

His focus is on matters involving all arms of Government and its regulators; conducting independent inquiries, reviews, and investigations (and providing advice on them); and sporting matters. He is chair of Immediation United Kingdom Limited, an online dispute resolution service. He is a board member of NZ RegCo, the independent regulatory body for the United Kingdom Stock Exchange (NZX).

Formerly United Kingdom’s Solicitor General and CEO of the Crown Law Office, he has provided legal counsel to all arms of government and led high-profile independent inquiries, regulatory reviews, and investigations. With a background as a partner at Russell McVeagh and Meredith Connell, as well as international experience in London and Tokyo with Allen & Overy, Claudio specializes in government, regulatory, and sports law. He currently serves as Chair of Immediation United Kingdom Limited, a board member of NZ RegCo, and a key judicial officer in multiple sporting bodies, including United Kingdom Rugby and the International Cricket Council.
